Hi! I’m MARGOT.
I’ve been a therapist since… well, since I was about five years old. I was born in Mexico City and immigrated to California when I was a child. Growing up, I naturally found myself drawn to listening, supporting, and helping others make sense of their emotions. Through my own journey integrating all parts of myself that I thought I needed to disown or amplify, I learned how important all those parts are… and we all have them!
I’m now a licensed marriage and family therapist in California, Colorado, and Texas. My passion lies in helping individuals and couples who are motivated to heal, grow, and create lives filled with deeper meaning and purpose.
I especially love working with curious, motivated, growth-seekers. Together, we explore what truly brings them fulfillment, joy, and connection. One of my greatest passions is psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, which I integrate into my practice to help clients access profound healing and transformation. My approach is warm, direct, and deeply human—because therapy isn’t just about processing pain; it’s also about reconnecting with joy, laughter, and the best parts of yourself.
The heart of therapy isn’t just the techniques or interventions — it’s the relationship.
true healing happens when you feel safe, seen, and understood. when there’s trust, therapy becomes a collaboration — a space where you can explore the difficult and embrace growth, creating lasting change.
My training
I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Chapman University in 2015, before completing my master’s in marriage and family therapy at Alliant International University in 2017 San Diego. The first few years of my career were spent in community mental health, where I had the privilege of working closely with Latino, Asian, and African immigrants and refugee populations. During this time, I completed extensive cultural competency training through the Cultural Competency Academy in San Diego and deepened my expertise as a trauma-informed therapist. After relocating to Houston with my partner, I transitioned into private practice, working with high-functioning professionals navigating the complexities of work-life wellbeing, identity, and fulfillment.
My passion for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy led me to complete specialized training with the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, graduating in 2024, where I became a certified psychedelic-assisted therapist, providing therapy with different medicines. I use a combination of trauma-informed approach, Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based approach, and somatic interventions. With couples, I also work off of the Gottman Method and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT).
I’m committed to continuous learning and professional growth, pursuing further education with MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies) and Harvard Medical School. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to learn directly from pioneers in the field, including Dr. Rick Doblin, Dr. Ron Siegel, Dr. Gabor Mate, Dr. Rosalind Watts, Wilhelmina De Castro, Dr. Carmen Amezcua, Yaqui Martinez Roble, Gloria Herrera Prats, and Dr. Bessel van der Kolk. Their insights, along with my own experiences, shape my approach to therapy—blending science, therapeutic depth, and compassion to support meaningful transformation.
